August 4, 2015 Trust the Heart of God

Do we really understand the heart of God as it pertains to His love for us?  Sure, most of us can recite John 3:16 and as we get old enough to be in a meaningful relationship and have children we begin to grasp a little better the love that God has for us.  We understand why He gave His Son and we understand Jesus laying down His life for us. But do we really understand on a daily basis that we miss evidences of God’s love for us?  God watches over us and protects us everyday and we never realize it.  As I was praying this morning with my regulars at 7:00 AM one of them had a question about something said in Psalm 91.  The words of this Psalm tell of God’s love.  Here are a few verses from this Psalm.11For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your  ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

Think about that.  Have you ever been just going about your day and you just all of the sudden feel this good feeling?  You know what I mean?  You just have this joy inside that makes you smile and you feel light.  Do you ever stop and wonder where that came from?  That is the angels lifting you up.  That is God letting you feel His presence because He loves you!  The heart of God is for you and for you to have joy in your life. Jesus tells us in John 10:10

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

We have an enemy that wants us to be distracted from those things that would bring us joy.  Jesus came that we might have life and have it to the full.  That is Gods heart concerning us.  When we can get that, I mean really get that, we will have the ability to experience God like never before.  When we begin to trust the heart of God and know that His love for us is perfect and His will for us is perfect and we allow him to live life through us then and only then will we be able to face the things we do with confidence and peace.  I challenge all of us to start seeking the heart of God, and when we find it we can boldly ask:  What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?  (Romans 8:31) Trust the heart of God!
