February 10, 2016 Intro to Esther

We are moving from the book of Ruth to the book of Esther this week. I decided to do the introduction in my blog because I don’t want to have to rush through it to get to chapter 1….read more

February 3, 2016 Waiting

What is it that is so hard about waiting? If you were in the service on Sunday you heard me say that I am not the best at waiting. I am learning to wait. I think our problem with waiting comes from the world in which we live….read more

January 25, 2016 Committing to a Deeper Relationship

Committing to a deeper relationship is not a small undertaking. This commitment calls us to a place that is not comfortable or natural for us humans. Jesus tells us in the book of John chapter 14….read more

January 18, 2016 Does God Want Us to Be Happy?

When you saw the title of this blog, “Does God want you to be happy?”, what was your first

instinct? If you are like most people I believe you would say, “Yes, God wants us to be happy.”

After all God is a loving God so why wouldn’t he want us to be happy?….read more

January 11, 2016 Running

I have been thinking quite a bit about Sunday’s sermon title; Commit: Don’t Run. How we

handle life’s challenges says a whole lot about a couple of things, our commitment level and our

faith. I think more so, our faith….read more

January 4, 2016 Excellence

As we look forward to this new year I know we all have good intentions to improve in some way

from last year. It is what we do, whether we verbalize it or not. In ourselves we want to be

healthier, happier, more stable, more prepared financially for the future, or we just want to be a

better version of ourselves. There is nothing wrong with any of these things. In and of

themselves they are good and they are good for us to strive for….read more

December 28, 2015 Philippians

I know I haven’t posted a blog in a while but I felt I needed to follow up on the series we just completed in Philippians.  Now that we have completed the series we need to not lose what we have learned in this study.  The essence of Bible study is living out what you learn, not just learning for learning’s sake.  As we start a new year I encourage you follow a few steps so that in 2016 you can obtain and maintain your joy….read more

August 10, 2015 Distractions

Distraction is not a new method that the enemy employs to keep us from being who we were created to be.  This tactic was used in the garden with Eve.  The enemy twisted truth just enough to draw Adam and Eve from the absolute truth of what God had commanded.   He took Cain’s hurt feelings and turned it into murder.  I could go on and on.  The enemy has been at this for a very long time and is very proficient at it….read more

August 4, 2015 Trust the Heart of God

Do we really understand the heart of God as it pertains to His love for us?  Sure, most of us can recite John 3:16 and as we get old enough to be in a meaningful relationship and have children we begin to grasp a little better the love that God has for us.  We understand why He gave His Son and we understand Jesus laying down His life for us. But do we really understand on a daily basis that we miss evidences of God’s love for us?  God watches over us and protects us everyday and we never realize it….read more

June 30, 2015 Introduction to Discipleship

It has been very challenging for me preparing the messages that God has been showing me. It is challenging in that it is bringing about changes in me that have been long past due. I have been challenged in the same way hearing these messages from other pastors and it has stirred me but when it came down to it, fully surrendering to the challenge was too hard so I was like most people. I prayed real hard for those that were out there on the front lines for Christ, and I gave what I could to support them. If I ever saw them I was sure to encourage them in what they were doing. You know, because some people go and others pray for, support, and encourage those that go….read more

June 23, 2015 House Building

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for he grants sleep to those he loves. Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.    Psalm 127….read more

June 17, 2015 Witness

What is it about witnessing that makes it so hard for most to do?  If you stop and think about what witnessing is in the general sense of the word it really doesn’t seem that difficult to do….read more

June 8, 2015 Seeking the Lost

Messages like the one God gave me to preach this past Sunday are very hard for me. Sometimes we have to ask ourselves hard questions that deal with our daily lives and it is hard to be honest especially if the truth hurts us or someone else….read more

June 2, 2015 Connect

We live in a time in history when we are busier than any other time than I can think.  Technology has allowed us to be able to stay on the go and never have to miss a call, an email, a text, or video call. We can actually have a face to face conversation with  someone on the other side of the world on our smart phone…. read more

May 25, 2015 Harvest

Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.  John 4:35 A recent study by the Pew Research Center found that the percentage of Americans who identify their religion as “Christianity” dropped by eight percent from 2007 to 2014….read more

May 19, 2020 – Fear

Fear is a funny thing. Fear can embolden us and cause us to stand up and fight or it can trigger our flight instinct and send us into a cave to hide from the world. This is a universally known truth and we can see this being played out right before our eyes right now. When the Covid-19 pandemic began to pick up steam most people reacted with retreat. Other people…

February 10, 2016 Intro to Esther

We are moving from the book of Ruth to the book of Esther this week. I decided to do the introduction in my blog because I don’t want to have to rush through it to get to chapter 1. When you turn from Ruth to Esther, you enter a totally different dimension. You go from a quiet Jewish village to a busy Gentile city, from doing business in a traditional way at the city gate…

February 3, 2016 Waiting

What is it that is so hard about waiting? If you were in the service on Sunday you heard me say that I am not the best at waiting. I am learning to wait. I think our problem with waiting comes from the world in which we live. As technology progresses waiting is something we don’t have to do as much. Travel is faster, transfer of information is faster, answers to medical…

I have been thinking quite a bit about Sunday’s sermon title, “Commit: Don’t Run.” How we handle life’s challenges says a whole lot about a couple of things, our commitment level and our faith. I think more so, our faith. According to Warren Wiersbe in his commentary on Hebrews, “True Bible faith is confident obedience to God’s Word in spite of the…
